Hello, I am Deborah, founder of Paws In The Air, Animal Relocation & Vacation Services along with Spirit Dog, Chihuahua/Corgi, Manager and Director of Operations. Spirit makes sure that every animal travels, ‘Spirit Style’ in absolute comfort with the best of everything including the red carpet rolled out for every journey.

I am British, born and raised in the village of Boxford, Suffolk, England. I also spent some of my childhood years in Nigeria, West Africa, and then moved to Canada as a teenager. My love of animals came naturally, since my parents filled our home with rescued dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, parrots and a horse. There was never a time we didn’t have animals and from an early age, I dedicated my life to them. I have travelled extensively throughout nine countries and lived in five of those countries. I attended Sheridan College, Ontario in 1979 for Veterinary Assistant/Technician program and worked over 20 years within Veterinary Hospitals in Ontario and Vancouver, B.C. I have further worked in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, and created and operated a wildlife in-between centre in Bella Coola, B.C. This involved the care of Birds of Prey, Bears, Seal Pups, and arranging permits and transport to appropriate rehabilitation sanctuaries.

I am also owner/operator of Merry Puppinns, an animal care business on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada.

For local Vancouver Island Clients, I work closely with Mid Isle Veterinary Hospital in Qualicum Beach, B.C. for all of your animal’s veterinary requirements, completion of Pet Health Certificates, Microchip Certificates, Tapeworm Treatment Certificates and all necessary blood work/titres that may need to be sent to specified labs. This is in preparation for CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) endorsements, allowing you to safely export your animal from Canada and into another country. I attend all veterinary visits to ensure timely completion of your certificates.

For clients outside of our local area, I will endeavour to work closely with your Veterinarian to ensure accurate and timely completion of all your Veterinary Health Certificates in preparation for CFIA endorsements.

I am professionally certified through IATA (International Airline Transportation Association) having successfully completed the LAR (Live Animal Regulations) Course.

Paws In The Air is run on IPATA guidelines and all information utilizes IPATA recommendations.
